Let's start the Digital Week !

18 October 2021

Each year, municipalities, libraries, administrations... mobilize as part of the Digital Week (in Wallonia and Brussels) and offer activities around digital technology to teach digital skills to the general public.

This year again, the CIRB is participating in this Digital Week (October 18-29) by coordinating activities for its staff, but also for children, seniors and disabled people via the Digital Inclusion Unit.

What is the program?

A small overview of the activities that will be organized. We will come back in detail, in the next few days, on each of them.

The theme of this edition of the Digital Week is "Digital well-being, a question of dosage". A webinar on digital disconnection is planned for Tuesday, October 26, for CIRB employees, with the collaboration of CESI, our external advisor in prevention and protection at work.

A collection of computer equipment (mobile phone, smartphone, tablet). If they are broken, you can deposit them in a box (on the first floor of the CIRB) until the end of October. They will be taken care of by a certified recycling company. If they still work, and you want to give them away or resell them, an action is planned on Monday, October 25 with the association A Smart World.

Digital initiations for children from 8 to 12 years old, with the Ozobot robot, in collaboration with Codenplay, in 10 schools of the Brussels Region. The pedagogical teams of these schools also have the opportunity to follow a digital familiarization workshop to learn how to integrate digital in the classroom and in the curriculum.

On October 22, the non-profit organization Filao is organizing an animation on the use of digital technology in the context of studies, for people with disabilities: Notability for note taking, use of the cloud and files to store course notes, organization of time with Google Calendar, moving around in class or on the course in complete safety, etc.

Digibeta offers ten fun and creative workshops, aimed at senior citizens, in order to make the use of computers and smartphones less dramatic. We will also address the fears that sometimes slow down seniors in the use of computers and smartphones.

On October 20, a workshop on the use of a smartphone with a voice and touch interface for the visually impaired, with the association Eqla for EPN facilitators, teachers, (para)medical staff, etc.
All the details about this Digital Week 2021 can be found on the website of the organization. Do not hesitate to relay these actions around you or to participate in them.
